A FINE CASED PAIR OF 30-BORE SINGLE-TRIGGER OVER-AND-UNDER FLINTLOCK PISTOLS

With browned twist octagonal barrels each with platinum-lined touch-hole, the upper ones sighted, signed in gold and with gold line and thunder-clouds at the breech, the lower ones with gold lines and engraved 'No. 1, Piccadilly, London', engraved tang incorporating a back-sight, signed engraved locks each with safety-catch, blued external main-spring, roller, rainproof pan and 'French' cock, chequered figured walnut butts, engraved blued iron mounts including pommel-caps engraved with a crest and motto, gold escutcheons engraved with initials JPS(?), blued iron ramrods (one replaced) each with chequered tip, and much original finish: in fitted case cut from a solid piece of mahogany with accessories including brass three-way flask, ivory patch-boxes each engraved with a coat-of-arms, and four japanned containers, the lid lined in red morocco, complete with leather travelling cover (repaired)
