A late 18th century mainly brass and steel model of a single cylinder condensing side lever beam engine of circa 1820 built by J.T. Bolding, circa 1890. Measurements including base -- 18 7/8 x 22 5/8in.(48 x 57.5cm)
With cylinder 3in. bore x 3½in. stroke, regulator butterfly valve, separate steam ways and in-ward facing steam chest, pierced lift-off eccentric rod and rocking lever operated valve, barrelled connecting rod and crankshaft supported on pierced frames of cast brass with four gothic columns and arches with decorative ties, and round rimmed spoked flywheel (crosshead links missing). Finished in green and polished brightwork. Original wood base and metal framed glazed case
