A set of four Berlin mythological figures
Circa 1780, blue sceptre and impressed S marks
Each seated upon a fluted column pedestal and modelled with their various attributes, Hercules scantily draped in a lion's pelt and holding a club; Minerva with a scale-patterned breastplate and oval studded shield centred by Medusa-masks, her helmet surmounted by an owl; Mars in a breastplate with lion-masks, plumed helmet and clasping a sword; Omphale with a lion's pelt cloak over a breastplate, holding a torch in her right hand (Hercules's left great toe restuck, Minerva's left thumb lacking, left forearm restuck at the elbow, the upper arm with two related cracks, part of the hilt of Mars's sword lacking, Omphale's left thumb lacking)
