A SHIKOMI-ZUE CONTAINING A WAKIZASHI BLADE, honzukuri, iorimune, chugissaki and shallow torii-zori with itame hada and narrow yakinaoshi suguba hamon, ubu nakago with two mekugi-ana, unsigned, early 17th century, 50cm. long, the hilt and scabbard covered in cherry bark and fitted with a double safety catch; a large wakizashi, the blade broad shobuzukuri, iorimune and takashinogi with gomabashi and a bonji on omote and a wide groove and soehi on ura, with a bonji above; with ko-itame hada and midare hamon with profuse ko-nie (umegane on ura), ubu nakago with three mekugi-ana, with kinzogan inscription Kenshinhyoe-no-jo Fujiwara Masaaki, rokuju hachisai "aged 68", and a further inscription referring to a cut made with one hand, 19th century, 47.4cm., with ribbed black lacquer scabbard and sahari fittings engraved with clematis (lacking kogai and kozuka); and a small tanto in metal mounting, the blade inscribed Norimitsu (3)
