Jaguar launched their new medium sized body in 1956 with a 2.4-litre engine and this was to be the starting point in the development of the more recent Jaguars. The 2.4 became very popular and before long both 3.4 and 3.8-litre versions were available. The S-type was a longer version that came with independent rear suspension. It seemed to answer the need for something better than the standard Mark II.

It was given a redesigned grille, thinner bumpers, hooded headlights and fully integrated indicators which made the front look smoother. The rear was given a larger boot for more luggage space.

This car has been in one ownership since 1977 and during this time it has had a new petrol tank, exhaust, front brake calipers and handbrake caliper. Overall the car is in fairly good condition and has a current MoT.
