A late 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope,
unsigned, with draw-tube focusing and micrometer fine adjustment, the body-tube with an articulated bull's-eye condensor attachment, with concave substage mirror, the main limb tilting via a joint to the horseshoe foot, with two objective mounts and four lenses, and two eyepieces numbered 3 and 4, also with a number of amateur prepared slide preparations, in the original fitted case, the lid lined with a pad of purple silk, lifting to reveal a loose piece of paper for correlating the magnifications of the objectives and eyepieces, the case stamped 19559 -- 11 1/8in. (28.5cm.) wide; and a late 19th-Century brass and black enamelled compound monocular microscope, stamped on the stage beneath the glazed cover BAUSCH & LOMB OPTICAL CO., with draw-tube and rack and pinion focusing with micrometer fine adjustment, the rotating circular stage with slide clip attachment, the substage condensor and plano-concave mirror fully adjustable and with calibrated scale, the main limb tilting via a joint to the enamelled flat tripod foot, with one eyepiece and Bausch & Lomb , ¾ and 16mm objectives, in the original fitted mahogany box, the inside of the door with a label for ALOE, HERNSTEIN & Co. MANUFACTURERS AND IMPORTERS OF SURGICAL OPTIAL MATHEMATICAL INSTRUMENTS ST LOUIS, with brass carrying handle -- 13¾in. (34.9cm.) high
