Two oval valentine cards with embossed and pierced paperlace borders, both stamp marked Dobbs, both with hand-coloured paper flowers and details one depicting an eye, the words above read 'Dieu vous protege', the other a picture puzzle with a door flanked by an 'I' and a 'U' (I adore you), the door opening to reveal the word 'Love'; and four other cards attributed to Dobbs, 5 x 3½in., c. 1840-50.
