A William and Mary ebonised bracket timepiece with quarter repeat, circa 1700
The case with silvered brass handle to a moulded cushion top, glazed side panels with silk-backed fret panels above, with conforming fret to the front door top rail, with silvered escutcheon to the inverted lock, on rectangular block feet, the 7in. square brass dial with cherub mask spandrels with foliate engraving between, with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with elaborate cross half hour and simple cross half quarter hour markers, matted centre with engraved borders to the date box and to the mock pendulum aperture, the latter with silvered signature panel to its rear signed Dryer London, the centre with a circlet of engraved foliate scrolls, pierced blued steel hands, the five pillar movement with later heart-shaped back cock to the verge escapement, with pull quarter repeat on two bells, the back plate profusely engraved with foliate scrolls and signed Sam Dryer LONDON, secured to the base board with two bolts -- 13¾in. (35cm.) high to hilt of handle
