A George III oak longcase clock, circa 1780
The hood with stepped hood and outset columns, with arched trunk door, on stepped plain plinth, the 12in. wide cut-away brass dial with scroll spandrels to a Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the centre engraved with foliate scrolls and with rosettes around the winding holes, with engraved subsidiary seconds ring and box date aperture, steel hands, signed on a silvered disc in the arch John Little, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 82½in. (209cm.) high
