Rectangular cover for a booklet, the front and back covers inset with lapis-lazuli panels with bevelled edges, with plain gold mounts, the gold spine cast with four flowerheads, hinged plain central gold clasp, the inside lined with purple velvet and containing a notebook bound in purple silk with printed gilt title APOLOGY 1876. ASCOT.
