by André Magnin, marked, Geneva under French occupation, circa 1805/1809, with the restricted warranty mark for gold, French Departments 1798-1809 and the small census mark for gold, French Departments 1809-1819, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks or gold
Octagonal curved box of pocket-fitting shape, the slightly tapering cover and base engine-turned with a reeded sunburst motif radiating from an off-centre eye-shaped blank reserve on the cover and from a half-moon-shaped reeded reserve on the base, the four sides with horizontal reeding, the four corners stamped with stylized rosettes in a lozenge framed by diagonal reeding, all framed by flutes, the matted gold borders stamped with trailing foliage and stylized rosettes
