with blonde mohair, boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads and hump --19in. (48.5cm.) high, cicra 1910 (thinning and wear to chest, tops and tips of arms, one hand pad damaged, one repaired and one foot pad with hole, mouth and nose stitching part replaced and general wear); and a photograph of the original owner with this bear (2)

Lot Essay

This bear was given to Daphne Wilkins for her first birthday, she was born in Shepton Mallet on the 16th August 1913. Daphne later married Henry Blake, who was in the army, this meant that 'Ted' travelled on postings to Singapore, Libya and North Africa.
