A George IV mahogany and brass-inlaid striking bracket clock, circa 1825
The case with brass pineapple finial to a fluted chamfered top, ripple mouldings to the cornice, the sides with cornucopia and ring handles above silk-backed tracery sound frets, the chamfered front angles applied with brass strips, the base with gadrooned gallery and on brass ball feet, the white painted Roman dial with strike/silent lever above XII and signed in the centre W. BALLANTYNE LONDON, steel hands, the twin gut fusee movement with anchor escapement and shouldered plates, strike and trip repeat on bell, with pendulum holdfast (lacking screw) to the back plate with leaf engraved border -- 22½in. (54.5cm.) high
