Lot Essay

Nicolas Schradre, recorded at Sèvres as a painter of landscapes, figures, birds and patterns and as a gilder, is the likely decorator of the present cup and saucer. His work is found on a garniture of three vases Chinois in the collection of HRH Queen Elizabeth. See Geoffrey de Bellaigue, Sèvres Porcelain from the Royal Collection, Exhibition Catalogue, The Queen's Gallery, London, 1979, no. 40.
