A Shibayama tusk vase
Meiji Period
inlaid in mother-of-pearl, stained ivory, coral and part silver filigree to one side with a bird on a suspended perch beside a large basket of hydrangea, peonies, chrysanthemums and blossoming branches set on a stand, the reverse with further birds beside a garden lantern set on a gnarled wood stand, amongst chrysanthemums and blossoming prunus beside a meandering river, silver rim mounts, attached to wood stand -- 12in. (30.5cms) high, mother-of-pearl signature tablet, (some minor losses).
