A PAIR OF GREEK GOLD CORNUCOPIA EARRINGS
Hellenistic Period, Circa 3rd-2nd Century B.C.
The earwire formed from a beaded wire and two plain wires wound spirally, one end tapering to a single wire that hooks into a loop at the side of the conical mouth of the cornucopia, its end centered by a pyramid, with a granule at the base of each side, and a border of bands of granulation enclosing two bands of plain wire, a small triangular sheet topped with granulation overlapping the border; now joined to a modern ear post
