A Victorian mahogany longcase clock, mid 19th century
The wide-bodied case with swan neck cresting, outset part-ringed turned columns, ivory door knob, the short tracery arch trunk door flanked by short conforming columns, the plinth with chamfered angles and raised on a shallow skirting, the 13½in. wide Roman dial painted with churches to the spandrels, with subsidiary seconds ring and arched date aperture, signed Williamson/Nantwich, gilt-brass hands, the arch painted with figures in 17th century costume, with falseplate to the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 89¼in. (227cm.) high
