Safi al-Din 'Abd al-Mu'min ibn 'Abd al-Haqq al-Qata'i al-Baghdadi, the scribe of this Qur'an, lived from 658/1260 to 739/1338. He was a distinguished scholar of the time in Baghdad, and spent most of his life in that city. He was a professor of the Mujahidiyya madrassa in Baghdad and taught in all the Islamic sciences, being particularly known for his work on the laws of inheritance. He also wrote on history, fiqh, geography, architecture, engineering, astronomy and medicine. (Kahaleh, 'U.R.: Ma'jan al-mu'alifin, Beirut, 1957.) He is mentioned as having a very good hand and copied a lot of works on hadith, writing in a style known as al-khatt al-mansub (Ma'ruf, N.: 'Ulama al-Mustansariyya, Cairo, 1975, Vol.II (BL14561) No other Qur'ans in his hand are known. As a young contemporary of the great Yaqut al-Musta'simi, who died in around 697/1298, he was probably influenced by the great man.
