Sculptée en relief sur fond rouge, étoiles et losanges fleuris, au centre de deux enfants jouant avec un sceptre et un branchage, symboles de la Félicité familiale, dans un paysage de terrasse et grenadier, le marli rehaussé de branchages de cerisier, de pivoines épanouies au revers ; la partie centrale du revers laquée noire

This kind of scene with children playing was typical of the Jiajing (1522-1566) and Wanli (1573-1619) periods ; For a similar pattern, refer to the carved red lacquer tray from Ming dynasty illustrated in Hu Shih-chang and J.
