A late 19th/early 20th-Century German lacquered-brass and black enamelled monocular microscope,
signed on the foot E. Leitz Wetzlar No 65952, in a fitted mahogany carrying case -- 35.5cm. (14in.) high

The barrel has a triple nosepiece and draw tube and rack and pinion focusing, with micrometer fine adjustment. The stage has a substage condensor and plano concave mirror. The main limb tilts on a short upright section of the black enamelled U-shaped foot. Accessories include: Leitz eyepieces 2 and 4; Leitz objectives 3 and 6 and a 2 oil immersion, and Steward 2in. objective, all in canisters; a substage attachment with different aperture caps; and a small case within the main box containing a Leitz mechanical stage attachment. The box has an iron carrying handle and a marquetry front;
And four card cases of slide preparations, mostly amateur, some professional (eg Smith, Beck & Beck). (5)
