Two 19th-century lacquered-brass microscopes,
A compound binocular microscope signed on the foot W. LAWLEY & SON. 78 Farringdon St. LONDON. The binocular barrel has sliding adjustment to the eyepieces and a Wenham prism. It is connected via a short limb to the main column, which has rack and pinion focusing, a mechanical stage, substage aperture disc and concave mirror. It is raised on two uprights from the Y-shaped foot, which is screwed to a mahogany baseplate. There is Lawley ¼in. objective in a canister, a live box and two other attachments. The fitted case has a brass carrying handle -- 40.3cm. (15 7/8in.) high;
And an elegant lacquered-brass and black enamelled monocular microscope by MonVerick M. Stiasnie, Suer 43 rue des Ecoles Paris. The barrel has quadruple nosepiece, rack and pinion focusing and micrometer fine adjustment. The circular stage has a substage condensor and plano-concave mirror. The main column is raised on two splayed pairs of feet. In four drawers are: one eyepiece; Stiasnie 2 and 6 objectives in canisters; and some amateur slide preparations. The drawers. The fitted case has a brass handle and a key -- 34.9cm. (13¾in.) high
