Original blue cloth (somewhat soiled, spine discoloured and bumped at head and foot). 'The Reader's Library' edition, third impression. Provenance: Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton (pencilled signature on half-title); by descent.

Alfred, Lord TENNYSON (1809-1892). Idylls of the King ... new edition. London: Edward Moxon & Co., 1863. Small 8° (164 x 100mm.). Contemporary green morocco gilt, arms of Trinity College Dublin stamped on covers, gilt edges (scuffed). Provenance: Dr. Henry Shackleton (prize label from Trintity College Dublin, noting that the book was awarded to Henry Shackleton in 1865, inscription to his daughter:); Gertude Alice Shackleton (partially obscured inscription 'G[. Alice Shackleton from her fath]er, [Nov. 24, 1919]'); by descent (Shackleton family armorial bookplate pasted over inscription). And one other (a Shackleton family copy of South in Hungarian).
