A good 19th-Century lacquered-brass binocular microscope,
signed on the barrel John Browning 63 Strand London 698, in an associated mahogany carrying case -- 37cm. (14½in.) high; with an unsigned simple student's microscope in a wooden case -- 21.6cm. (8½in.) wide

The binocular microscope has rack and pinion adjustment to the eyepieces and a prism above the nosepiece. It is held on a short limb from the short square-section column, and is focused via rack and pinion and micrometer screw. Beneath the mechanical stage is a condensor mount and a plano-concave mirror. The square section is held between two upright supports from a backwards Y-shaped base. Accessories include two unsigned objectives in canisters, one marked for 1 Inch and a Watson HOLOS 20 eyepiece (which does not fit this instrument) in a Watson 4mm HOLOS objective canister. The fitted case has a brass carrying handle. (2)
