Lot Essay

This elegant table demonstrates the fashion for Louis XV furniture at various Courts in Germany in the 18th Century. A very closely related table in the Residenz in Ansbach, which was executed by Samuel Erdmann Beyer in 1763, is illustrated in H. Kreisel/G. Himmelheber, Die Kunst des Deutschen Möbels, Munich, 1973, vol. III, figs. 502-503.
