The first third quarter of the 18th Century, the second late 18th Century
The first with narrow straight single-edged hollow-ground blade (rust-stained) double-edged towards the point and with a narrow fuller bordering the back on each face, the gilt-brass half-basket hilt (gilding worn) of slender bars, comprising asymmetrical oval side-rings, large outer one linked to the pommel by a knuckle-guard and an S-shaped outer bar, and an inner one combined with a thumb-ring, fluted ovoidal pommel with button, and wooden grip covered with rayskin and bound with wire, in associated brass-mounted leather scabbard (incomplete and damaged); the second a sabre with hollow-ground blade double-edged towards the point, and bright steel stirrup hilt (some pitting), with slender knuckle-guard and reeded ivory grip (chipped), in associated plain brass scabbard (mouth-locket missing) with two suspension-rings
