A George I ebony striking table clock, circa 1725
With brass handle to inverted bell top, moulded frames to breakarch glazed side panels, brass fishscale quarter frets to front and rear doors, the brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour and diamond half quarter hour markers, matted centre with mock pendulum and date apertures, blued steel hands, signed above the chapter ring Joannes Mondehare London, with strike/silent ring to the arch flanked by torch-bearing cherub spandrels, the eight day twin wire fusee movement with five ringed pillars and now converted to anchor escapement, with hour strike on bell and pull quarter repeat (restored) on three bells (two replaced), the back plate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls and the movement securing brackets with chevron engraving
