A 19th-Century Swedish tellurion,
signed on the base SVANSTRÖM & RYLANDER. STOCKHOLM., the 4½-inch diameter globe with text in German signed DIE ERDKUGEL Bearbeitet von H. Albrecht. Verlag: ERNST SCHOTTE & Co BERLIN W.35., made up of twelve chromolithographed gores with equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, meridian at 180° graduated in degrees and no ecliptic shown, the oceans with unlabelled steamship routes, and the extent of pack ice for both poles, the Antarctic with mostly projected coastline, the continents shaded yellow and green with nation states outlined, mountains in pictorial relief, towns, cities and rivers, surmounted by a gear system with a white-painted wooden moonball on a wire arm, the globe mounted via various gear wheels to a brass drum on the end of the long brass arm with curved support, extending from beneath the Zodiac plate with appled paper circle in green and white, showing days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, seasons and pictorial representations of the zodiacal houses, signed around the the brass candle holde P.A. NORSTEDT & SÖNER STOCKHOLM, with polished brass reflector and ebonised turning handle, raised on a cast iron baluster column from a circular base -- 79cm. (31in.) wide (max)
