A Victorian japanned wood and engraved gilt-metal large oval desk timepiece

The case styled as a large oval frame decorated with raised gilt and red Japonnaise figures within Oriental landscapes and further inhabited with pheasants and foliage on a black ground, the silvered dial engraved in the centre with an elaborate spray of flowers within an engraved lobed frame, the chapter ring with painted Roman numerals and delicate blued steel hands, signed C.F. HANCOCK, SON & Co. LONDON within a reserve within further foliate engraving, the eight-day movement with going barrel and lever escapement with gold three-armed balance, the backplate stamped THOS COLE LONDON; the movement cover punch-numbered 1461 to the base, the unusual easle stand with runners and spring-loaded locking lever to one side
