The case with panelled floral marquetry to the plinth on later skirted base and to the rectangular trunk door with oval lenticle with later frame, the hood with carved giltwood capped ebonised columns, the sides now cut with doors, foliate cast elaborate gilt-metal sound frets beneath the cornice surmounted by a later ribbon-tied cresting, the 11 in. square dial signed John Ebsworth Londini Fecit beneath the later silvered chapter ring with later steel hands, the finely matted centre with calendar aperture, rosette engraved centre and later seconds ring, foliate winged cherub spandrels, the movement with latches (two now pinned) to the six ringed pillars of the movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on a bell (now lacking bolt-and-shutter maintaining power
