A William IV mahogany longcase clock, circa 1835
The hood with dentil cornice mouldings above fluted band, outset chequer-strung polygonal columns to the front and carved sound frets to the sides, conforming chequer-strung faceted pilasters with lanceolate leaf tops flanking the trunk door, on plinth with stepped skirting, the the 13½in. wide painted dial decorated with a floral spandrels and with a basket of flowers in the arch, Roman chapter ring and subsidiary calendar and date rings, signed ALEX.R HARVEY SANQUAR, brass hands, pinned directly to the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 82in. (208cm.) high
