A Victorian oak and mahogany longcase clock, circa 1840
The stepped top hood with ovolo carved cornice and outset turned columns, with short rectangular trunk door flanked by canted angles, the plinth with wavy skirting, the 12½in. wide painted dial with floral spandrels to the Roman chapter ring, subsidiary seconds and date rings, signed J. Trotter Alnwick, with brass hands, the arch with painted scene of a group being rowed out to a sail ship at sea, pinned directly to the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 82½in. (210cm.) high
