A George II ebonised and brass-mounted striking table clock with pull quarter repeat, circa 1760
The case with brass handle to brass-lined inverted bell top, with two brass-framed glazed panel to each side both front and rear door also brass-framed and with pierced quarter frets, with brass-lined base and on brass squab feet, the 7½in wide brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with mock pendulum and date apertures, signed on a silvered plaque Thos. Eastland/LONDON, blued steel hands (later), the silvered strike/silent ring above engraved with rosettes, the eight day six pillar movement with twin gut fusees and knife-edge verge escapement, hour strike on bell and pull quarter repeat on a nest of six further bells, some bells replaced, the back plate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls and a fruiting basket, with chevron engraved movement securing brackets -- 18¼in. (46.5cm.) high to fold of handle
