Meiji period (19th century), signed Shokasai and Shibayama in an inlaid shell reserve
The oval inro lacquered in gold, silver and red takamaki-e against a kinji ground with Chinese children pulling a large flower cart with blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums and prunus, the faces and hands of the children inlaid in ivory and some of the blossoms inlaid in shell, interiors nashiji; fitted with a coral bead ojime and a black-lacquer manju netsuke with a dragonfly inlaid in soft metal, horn and mother-of-pearl, interior hirame against a black ground
