A FARS SILVER INLAID BRASS BOWL
WEST IRAN, 14TH CENTURY
Of typical form with rounded base and sloping shoulder rising to the triangular section rim, the shoulder engraved and inlaid with continuous vine and plaited motifs, the centre with a band containing twelve roundels depicting zodiac signs, with minor medallions containing diaper motifs above a band of interlaced design, the interior decorated with a stylized fish pond, most silver now rubbed and vanished, underside with later owner's inscription "Ya Imam Husayn 1202AH"
