Twelve German fayence cutlery-handles and two French porcelain cutlery-handles
CIRCA 1740, THE FAYENCE HANDLES ALMOST CERTAINLY KÜNERSBERG, THE BLADES WITH CROWNED * MAKER'S MARKS
In three sizes and each of tapering cylindrical form, painted with gallants and companions, travellers, actors and musicians among ruins and buildings in extensive mountainous wooded landscapes, the ends with radiating panels of gilt scrolls, one fork-handle with shaped gilt scrolling foliage to the end, fitted with white metal ferrules and with steel three-pronged forks and curved steel blades (four knife-handles cracked, two with an associated piece lacking, four fork-handles cracked, one with associated piece lacking and another repaired); a de Villeroy handle of flat tapering form, painted with vases of flowers and an oriental figure beneath flowerheads and strapwork (cracked), fitted with a steel blade and a St. Cloud small tapering cylindrical handle with two oriental children with a bird among shrubs (cracked and repaired), fitted with a steel blade
