A VIENNA FIGURE OF A BAGPIPER
CIRCA 1765, BLUE SHIELD MARK, IMPRESSED R, PAINTER'S PUCE A. AND i3. MARKS
Modelled with his hair en queue, with a black ribbon around his neck and wearing a fur waistcoat over a puce jacket, his pale-yellow breeches with puce seams and hems, holding the bagpipes under his left arm and standing before a pile of rocks on a shaped oval rocaille-moulded mound base (tips of instrument pipes damaged and restored, minute chip to left small finger, minute chipping to ribbons, flaking to black enamel of shoes)
