The cup of flared conical form, painted with blue cornflowers and corn en terrasse below a broad gilt border with a band of ovolo ornament against hatching between gilt lines, the angular handle enriched in gilding, the border of the saucer with a similar band of cornflowers and corn en terrasse enclosing a similar gilt border at the well, the centre with a gilt rosette, gilt line rims (gilt border of saucer with some minute areas of wear)

Lot Essay

A coffee-can and saucer decorated with the same pattern was sold in these Rooms on 8th October 2002, lot 234, and is illustrated by Erich Köllmann and Margarete Jarchow, Berliner Porzellan (Munich, 1987), Vol. II, p. 529, fig. 443. A cup and saucer of the same form, but with a different fleurs en terrasse pattern, was sold in the same sale, lot 230.
