Median 4° (228 x 161mm). Gothic type, double column, initial spaces. (One or two small wormholes through first 6 quires, occasional marginal staining.) Contemporary South German or Austrian blind-stamped calf over wooden boards, manuscript title on fore-edge, traces of two fore-edge clasps, brass edge-pieces, pastedowns from a single leaf from 14th-century legal or theological manuscript (rebacked, lacking upper inner metal edge-pieces, slightly rubbed and loose). Provenance: Arnold Dyest (inscription, stating that the book was purchased for him in Antwerp on 25 Jan. 1529) -- Fr. Antonius Brant (16th-century inscription, second line effaced) -- George Dunn (1865-1912) of Woolley Hall, near Maidenhead (booklabel; sale Sotheby's, 22 November 1917, lot 1855) -- unidentified modern booklabel, fist with arrows and motto "esto memore conjugere" -- Ned J. Nakles (sale Christie's New York, 17 April 2000, lot 90).
