A BÖTTGER SILVER-GILT-MOUNTED GLOBULAR TEAPOT AND COVER
CIRCA 1723-26, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, THE DUTCH DECORATION SLIGHTLY LATER
Enamelled with pastoral scenes, one side side with a girl and a boy seated by a small bridge over a river, the girl spinning yarn and a dog before them, a tree and rockwork to the right, with sheep and dilapidated buildings beyond, the other side with the same decoration in reverse, the tapering spout and ear-shaped handle with vignettes of windmills and sheep, with gilt and iron-red foliate garlands about the terminals, the shallow domed cover with a knop finial and a similar scene within gilt line rim, the finial, handle and spout with a silver-gilt chain attachment, the spout tip mounted with a hinged cover (gilding worn)
