A Continental month-going mahogany longcase clock
The case in two sections, with glazed upper section, veneered backboard, later giltwood bezel to brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with half hour markers, florally engraved gilt centre, blued steel delicate hands and sweep seconds, movement with seatboard sliding into a bracket and housed within a brass casing, single train with pinwheel escapement positioned on the back plate, rope wind, the nine-rod gridiron pendulum with knife-edge suspension, hanging from the backboard; movement and dial associated to case, mid 19th century; brass weight -- 94½ in. (240 cm.) high
