A pair of late 19th-Century Belgian 13-inch diameter table globes,
boths made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, A.N. LEBÈGUE ET CIE. IMPRIMEURS-ÉDITEURS 46 Rue de la Madeleine BRUXELLES, with graduated equatorial, ecliptic and meridian of Paris, the oceans showing the tracks of D'Urville, and The Astrolabe, submarine telegraph cables, steamship routes and ocean currents, Antarctica with mostly projected coastline, the continents coloured in outline in yellow, orange and pink and well-detailed with rivers, mountains, towns, cities, railways and telegraph lines (areas of discolouration and light abrasion throughout; some light cracking to the Pacific);
GLOBE CELESTE P. MAES, éditeur 98, Boulevard Anspach, 98 BRUXELLES (cartouche overlaid), with graduated equatorial and ecliptic, the stars shown to various degrees of magnitude, the constellations depicted by lines joining the significant stars, the Milky Way shown in yellow and white, on a dark blue ground (some minor abrasion, minor cracking and neatly repaired minor cracking);
both spheres with scroll-shaped finial and raised on a short cast-iron foliate and scroll-decorated arm to the splayed tripod foot incorporating more foliate decoration, three mustachioed faces and lion's paw feet -- 58.4cm. (23in.) high (2)
