Unsigned, attributed to Sanenaga, Kamakura Period (Early 14th Century)
Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, iorimune, deep curvature with koshizori, chu-kissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: ko-itame with fine jinie, chikei, midare utsuri at upper part and straight utsuri at lower part
Hamon [tempering pattern]: chu-suguha with ko-gunome, ko-choji, ko-notare, ashi, yo, ko-nie, slight sunagashi
Boshi [tip]: slight notare and komaru
Nakago [tang]: ubu, kurijiri end, sujikai file marks, two holes
In shirasaya [plain wood scabbard]
Koshirae [set of mounts]: itomaki tachi mounting, the matching shakudo nanako mounts comprising: kabutogane, menuki, fuchi, ashi-kanamono, taikogane, semekanamono, ishizuki-kanamono and an aoi tsuba with o-seppa, all decorated with gilt hollyhock crests in high relief, the saya lacquered nashiji with hollyhock crests in gold hiramaki-e, the hilt and the center wrapped in purple strings in diagonal pattern

Accompanied by a certificate of registration as the 49th Juyo Token [Important Sword] no.11672, issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword] on 9 October 2003, aswell as a certificate of registration as Hozon Tosogu [Sword Fitting Worthy of Preserving] no.444703, issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword] on 19 June 2003.

The swordsmith is the son of Mitsutada and younger brother of Nagamitsu. The boshi on this sword is of the type known as Sansaku Boshi which is seen on blades by Nagamitsu, Sanenaga and Kagemitsu.
