signed W. WATSON & SONS 313 High Holborn LONDON 5997 the stand cross-bar stamped BRANCH 16 FOREST ROAD, EDINBURGH, with double rack and pinion, draw-tube and micrometer focusing, rotating mechanical stage with twin verniers, substage condensor with rack and pinion and micrometer adjustment and plano-concave mirror, the main limb tilting with a clamp on a raised tripod foot, with Watson Holos 5, 6, 10 and 14 eyepieces, ¼in. parachromatic, 2, 4, 24 and 48mm objectives in brass canisters, various pierced shading discs in a brass canister, an Ocular Netzmikrometer in a turned ivory box, two square glass stage plates with raised rubber rings, a Watson VERTICAL ILLUMINATOR in a brass canister, a Watson HOLOS IMMERSION PARABALOID substage condensor in a turned wooden box, another condensor lens, triple nosepiece attachment, a Watson millimetre micrometer slide in a leather slip case, a wooden box of glass slides and a card box of talcs, and some other items, in a fitted mahogany case with a Watson branch plaque inside the door and wooden carrying handle -- 39.3cm.
