An unusual early Victorian mahogany domestic medicine chest with drop-down doors,
with ivory plaque for FISHER & TOLLER Chemists LONDON, with red velvet lining, the 'front' drop-down door to galleried upper area housing seven bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels and the chemist's labels, the drawer beneath with two brass recessed handles (either side) and with compartments to house four bottles, a tray with handheld apothecary balance and weights and tortoiseshell-handled spatula and a lower section with further bottles, a measuring glass and a ceramic mortar and pestle, the 'verso' with drop-down door to galleried upper area housing five bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels and chemist's labels (one missing) and similar drawer beneath, the case with brass recessed handle, brass 'petal' decoration to front door and two brass escutcheons and a key -- 21.5 x 23 x 11.3cm. (8½ x 9 x 4½in.)
