by Jean-Georges Rémond (fl. 1783 - c. 1820), marked, Geneva, circa 1790, with prestige marks, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Octagonal box, the panels on cover, sides and base engine-turned with wavy reeding forming a coin pattern and enamelled with translucent blue and rich gold paillon foliage, flowers and tassels, all in opaque white enamel borders, the cover centred by an oval scene of a young lady presenting her silhouette portrait to a kneeling young gallant with his dog aside in a park landscape, below a white drapery inscribed OFFRANDE A L'AMITIÉ in gold paillons, the front and rear sides decorated with portrait medallions in gold paillons, both lid and base bordered by gold paillon foliage, the four side panels hung with similar foliate swags, the four canted side panels similarly enamelled with vases of flowers, the base with an altar of love flanked by two vases of flowers on a blue enamelled wavy guilloché sunburst ground, slightly raised incorporated thumbpiece
