Oval semi-translucent amethystine-quartz snuff-box with tapering sides, the hinged slightly raised lid overlaid with a gold cagework chased, embossed and pierced, depicting the muse Euterpe beneath a canopy surrounded by trophies of music, within a plethora of scrolls, swags and trelliswork, the sides similarly overlaid with a gold cagework with doves and vases of flowers within scrollwork entwined with garlands and husks, with raised shell thumbpiece
