拍品專文

Sickert visited Venice in 1901 and this painting is almost certainly one of several sketches that he made during this year of Santa Maria della Maddalena. This small-domed church dates from around 1760 and was designed by Tommaso Temanza. It is situated in a relatively secluded part of the Cannaregio district, and Sickert painted his subject from the Ponte Correr on the Fondamenta delle Colonnette.
