Engraved vignette on title, full-page engravings in text, music in black square notes on four-line red staves. 18th-century red velvet, large silver relief plaque at center of front cover displaying the Virgin with a rosary, looking up at the Saint-Esprit, supported by cherubim, back cover with similar relief plaque of a priest with rosary before the Cross, at each corner of both covers a large plaque of filigree relief displaying the Cross and the Crown of Thorns surmounted by a crown and supported by a lion's paw on each side, silver clasps and catches, gauffred edges (rebacked in red silk, some denting and oxidation to silver, text block separated from binding). Provenance: Adolph Lewisohn (1849-1938, sold Parke Bernet 25 January 1940, lot 193); purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 18 October 1955.
