The silver champlevé dial signed Windmills London on an elaborate foliate engraved cartouche beneath a demi-lune aperture displaying a rotating disc of blued steel with gilt sun, polished steel moon and stars, the sun and moon pointing to a sector of Roman chapters with an outer ring of Arabic chapters giving the minutes indicated by a blued steel poker hand, the movement with gilt-brass plates with pierced Egyptian pillars, the top plate signed J Windmills London with foliate pierced and engraved balance cock and numbered 183 beneath, silver regulation disc, three-arm steel balance to verge escapement, chain fusee and spring barrel, the inner case with split bezel, shuttered winding hole, maker's mark JJ for Johnanthan Jones, and punch-numbered 183, the outer turtleshell-veneered silver case further decorated with silver piqué in geometric patterns and with squared silver hinge and further punch-numbered 183 to the rim by the pendant
