A NORTH ITALIAN CUIR-BOUILLI POWDER-FLASK
Early 17th Century
With curved triangular body of plano-convex section, the base and the back covered in leather incised with a simple linear fan, the outer- face cut with three cabled panels, the inner filled with the profile bust of a youth within a cartouche involving a putto mask, the two at the sides filled with scrolling foliage, all in relief on a stippled ground, and the whole outer panel within border mouldings of laurel cut in high relief, bound with iron bands about the base and sides, and fitted with iron top of German type (belt hook missing).
